Fire Extinguisher Course
Our Fire Extinguisher Course, including Fire Blanket Training, is designed for anyone expected to respond to a fire alarm or who may face a real fire.
In a controlled, safe environment, delegates will be trained to handle and operate various fire extinguishers, gaining hands-on experience extinguishing live fires with water and CO2 extinguishers, as well as a fire blanket.
In just 2 hours, we cover a lot of information, although the practical element is the primary focus.
Fully training your staff in the event of a fire is the best way to protect them and other occupants of the premises.
If your staff have already received some form of fire training and only need the practical part (which can’t be done online), this course is ideal.
Who Is The Course For?
This course is for everyone in the workplace who may face a fire situation.
If you are an employer, business owner, or in control of premises, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires you to ensure that your employees receive adequate fire safety training.
If your fire risk assessment identifies the need for fire extinguishers in the workplace, a competent person must train staff to use them effectively.
Where Can I Attend The Course?
We normally run the course at your workplace, but we can arrange it locally.
Duration Of Course
Approx. 2 hours
Course Requirements
The theory session takes place in a meeting room, training room, classroom, or lounge. We can plug into a TV or monitor, or we can use our projector and screen.
The practical session takes place in a suitable outdoor area (approximately the size of 3-4 car parking spaces) away from cars and buildings.
PRT-Training will bring all appropriate training equipment (including fire extinguishers, fire blankets, etc.).
Wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.
RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement) Document
Before delegates take part in the practical element of the course, our instructor will complete a RAMS document to ensure safe working practices.
The responsible person on the day will sign the document, and we will leave a physical copy on site.

£375 per course (This is the cost of the course, not per individual) – no VAT to pay.

Course Aims and Objectives
- Understand the ‘fire triangle‘ and the different classes of fires.
- What extinguishers are available in the workplace, including their advantages and disadvantages
- Understand fire classes and which extinguishers to use for each.
- Be able to correctly and safely select and use a fire extinguisher – P.A.S.S. Method
- When and how to use a fire blanket
- Conduct basic checks
- Be able to correctly and safely operate a fire extinguisher if confronted with a real fire
